The ACT has changed their test format?! What you should know to be prepared for the new ACT format in 2015.

The ACT is just around the corner but did you know the format has changed since September 2015?  If you have been preparing using the old format and previous test questions then this article is important to read so you are better prepared on test day.  The test has longer passages to the science portion, time limits have changed, and the writing section is significantly different.

The previous ACT writing prompt stated an issue then asked the student to take a position and provide a supporting argument.  The new writing portion now asks the student to evaluate a complex issue, consider multiple perspectives, then build an effective argumentative essay "based on reasoning, knowledge, and experience," according to a statement by the ACT.  Review the new writing sample prompt here.

If English and writing is one of your strong suits, you may want to consider taking the SAT in lieu of the ACT.  The SAT allows 50 minutes to take the optional writing portion versus the 40 minutes allotted for the ACT.  We can help you determine which test you should take and how to better prepare for the new ACT format.  Sign-up to get started.
